What is IPL? How does the RoseSkinCo handset work?
Good Q!
IPL stands for intense pulsed light. It works similarly to laser hair removal, only it’s way easier and safe to do at home. Our IPL handsets work by emitting wavelengths that target pigment in the hair. As the light is absorbed, it turns to heat, which then kills hair growth cells. Hair grows back slower and sparser, reducing hair growth permanently overtime.
Is RoseSkinCo IPL hair removal safe? Can it cause cancer?
IPL is a popular, well-researched option for safe and effective long-term hair removal. Our IPL handsets are FDA-cleared for safe at-home use. They are also certified by FCC, CE, & RoHS.
RoseSkinCo IPL hair removal does not cause cancer or other long-term complications caused by UV exposure. All UV rays are filtered to protect your skin.
Does using the RoseSkinCo IPL handset hurt?
Nope!Unlike other types of hair removal, IPL is basically painless – no clenching your teeth, nicking your knee, or ripping anything off. In higher settings, those with sensitive skin may experience discomfort, but sticking with a lower intensity level makes treatment very gentle.
How long will it take before I see results? Is RoseSkinCo IPL hair removal permanent?
Most customers notice a reduction of hair growth after just 3-4 uses, then complete results after 12 uses.
Some people experience complete and total baby-soft hairlessness after around 12 uses and throw away their razors for good. Others sometimes require touch-ups beyond that, and that’s fine too! OG’s 10+ year lifespan and Lumi’s 30+ year lifespan allow you to do as many touch-ups as you like, for as long as you like.
As long as you use your RoseSkinCo IPL handset as directed, you’ll enjoy a permanent reduction of hair growth!
How often do I need to use my RoseSkinCo IPL handset?
We recommend completing IPL treatment once a week for 12 consecutive weeks. If you’d prefer, you can use it up to twice a week for faster results.
After the initial 12-week treatment period, use your IPL handset once a month for three months, or as needed. From then on, plan on using your IPL handset for touch-ups as you spot any new hair growth, typically once every 2-3 months.
How is the RoseSkinCo IPL handset powered? Will it work in my country? Plug type?
Our handsets are dual voltage (110V~240V), so they work everywhere in the world. Every RoseSkinCo IPL Handset comes with a 12V power supply with the correct plug type for your country. (e.g., USA orders receive 2 straight prongs, EU receive 2 round prongs.)
How do I clean my handset?
To clean your handset, first disconnect the device from the electricity supply. Then, wipe the device down with a clean, dry cloth and 70% alcohol. (Don’t use acetone or other abrasive fluids – they may damage your handset.) Then, use a dry cloth or paper towel to dry the device.
Never immerse your handset or any of its parts in water.
Do I have to shave before using IPL? Which other hair removal methods can I use?
Don’t toss your razors just yet! Shaving is an important step in preparing your skin for IPL treatment. Shaving takes your hair down just enough to prevent burns while leaving the root intact under the surface so your IPL handset can target it. Other forms of hair removal, such as waxing and tweezing, remove the hair root entirely, inhibiting IPL treatment. Consider using the 4D Shaver to prep your skin for IPL treatment.
That being said, if the area you’re treating is already hairless and smooth to the touch, shaving isn’t necessary.
If you’re planning on using your IPL device on your face, we recommend dermaplaning before treatment.
What is the IPL lamp made of?
The flash lamp in our handset is a Xenon Quartz Raytube, equipped with a glass filter to filter out harmful UV rays.
IPL Safety Tips
At what age can I start IPL treatment?
Both Lumi and OG are intended only for adult use. Children under 18 should not use OG or Lumi.
Do I need to wear eye protection?
Nope! No need to wear eye protection while using RoseSkinCo handsets. While IPL does use bright flashes, every handset is fitted with a sensor and will never flash unless the flash window is pressed against your skin. That being said, we recommend looking away from the light as it flashes.
Is it safe to use RoseSkinCo’s IPL handset while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Although there is no evidence showing that IPL has negative effects on pregnant or breastfeeding women, to be safe we do not recommend at-home IPL treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Is it safe to do IPL over freckles or moles?
We do not recommend performing IPL treatment over very dark freckles or moles, though light freckles are typically fine. If you have an area you wish to treat that has dark freckles or moles, we recommend coloring over them with a white pencil before treatment.
Is it safe to do IPL over tattoos?
We do not recommend performing IPL treatment over tattoos as it could result in painful burns, but going around tattoos to treat an area is fine.
Can I use RoseSkinCo IPL before or after tanning?
If you have recently tanned, we recommend waiting 2 weeks before using your RoseSkinCo IPL handset. If you’re planning on tanning after IPL treatment, we recommend waiting 48 hours.
I have a skin condition – can I use the RoseSkinCo IPL handset?
Do not use the RoseSkinCo IPL handset at all if you experience any of the following:
- A known skin disorder.
- A skin disease such as allergic dermatitis, eczema, etc.
- Photosensitive epilepsy or Photosensitivity.
- Are menstruating, pregnant, or lactating.
In addition, do not treat any areas that are very dark (please refer to the skin tone chart on this page), broken, scabbed, cancerous, hemangioma, or artificial, aesthetic, prosthetic, or plastic areas.
Lumi
Is Lumi safe to use?
Short answer? Yep!
IPL is a popular, well-researched option for safe and effective long-term hair removal. Lumi itself is FDA-cleared, FCC, CE, and RoHS certified for safe at-home use. Also, all UV rays are filtered to protect your skin.
When will I start seeing results?
Most customers notice a reduction of hair growth after just 3-4 uses, then complete results after 12 uses.
This can vary depending on the coarseness of your hair and the area you’re treating, but you’ll notice your hair gradually grow back slower and sparser with each treatment.
Where can I use my Lumi?
You can use your handset on just about any body part, including armpits, legs, face, and bikini area. The only places we do not recommend using Lumi are above the cheekbones and on the inner parts of the bikini area (labia, vagina, scrotum, anus, etc.)
What’s the difference between OG and Lumi?
OG and Lumi are our two best-selling at-home IPL handsets. They both offer long-term hair removal with the help of IPL technology. But Lumi offers faster results, a longer lifespan, and a more comfortable treatment experience.

Lumi is powerful enough to provide long-term, permanent hair removal, but also safe enough for at-home use.
Lumi has an energy output of 1.6 J/cm2 - 3.8 J/cm2 and wavelengths between 510NM-1100NM.
Are there any recurring costs? How long will my Lumi IPL handset last?
No recurring costs! Lumi is equipped with 900,000 flashes, which should last you well over 30 years if used as directed. No replacements or refills necessary.
OG
How strong is OG? What are the energy and wavelength outputs?
OG is powerful enough to provide long-term, permanent hair removal, but also safe enough for at-home use.
OG has an energy output of 1.5J-4.9J/cm2 and wavelengths between 470NM-1100NM.
Which areas of my body can I use my OG RoseSkinCo IPL handset on?
You can use your handset on just about any body part, including armpits, legs, face, and bikini area. The only places we do not recommend using OG are above the cheekbones and on the inner parts of the bikini area (labia, vagina, scrotum, anus, etc.)

Yes, Petal 2 is waterproof. With a waterproof grade of IPX5, you can use it in the shower! (That being said, we do not recommend fully submerging Petal 2 in water.)

Nope! Petal 2 is a one-time purchase – no expensive replacement brush heads necessary.

My Petal 2 is damaged. Can I still use it?
Discontinue use if your Petal 2 appears damaged in any way. Contact us here if you believe your device is malfunctioning.
Can I use Petal 2 on my eyes?
Do not use Petal 2 on your eyes. Exercise particular care when cleansing the under-eye regions and do not bring the device into contact with the eyelids or eyes themselves.
Can I use Petal 2 to remove makeup?
Petal 2 isn’t a makeup removal tool – we recommend removing all makeup before using it. Petal 2’s powerful pulsing function is designed to help your cleanser penetrate more deeply into your pores – using it with makeup on will push the makeup into your pores instead, which could cause breakouts.
Glow Glove
How should I use my Glow Glove?
1. Before exfoliating, make sure to ‘steam’ your skin for at least 5 minutes. (Taking a bath or shower totally works!)
2. Put on the glove, and dampen it, squeezing out any excess water.
3. Scrub your body in quick circular motions. Use long and firm strokes for best results.
4. When you’re done, rinse your body and glove with gentle soap and water.
5. After your shower/bath, apply a moisturizing lotion (like our Aloe Coconut Body Lotion) to your body to lock in the softness.
6. Repeat 1-2x/week. Replace with a new glove every 6 weeks.
Can I use the Deep Exfoliating Glove with my IPL Hair Removal Device?
Yes! The Glow Glove can be used by anyone who wants softer and smoother skin, but we created the exfoliating mitt specifically with IPL hair removal handset users in mind since scrubbing away dead skin cells first allows the light technology to easily target the hair follicle. For best results, exfoliate 24+ hours before IPL treatment.
Does this glove work for sensitive skin?
Yes! The Glow Glove is suitable for all skin types. However, overuse can cause irritation – if your skin feels raw after scrubbing, decrease the pressure or use it less often.
How often can I use it?
We recommend using it 1-2x per week and replacing the glove every 6 weeks.
Do I need to use the Glow Glove with soap?
Nope! Just add water.
4D Shaver
How should I use my 4D Shaver?
You can use the 4D Shaver dry or with your favorite soap/shaving cream. Simply press the power button to turn your 4D Shaver on, then shave as you normally would.
Is the 4D Shaver waterproof?
Yes, the 4D shaver is waterproof. Use it in the shower!
Does the 4D Shaver require batteries?
Nope! It’s fully rechargeable.
How long does a 4D Shaver last on a single charge?
It lasts for up to a month on a single charge.
How does the 4D Shaver work?
This electric shaver features five rotating shaving heads, for a faster shave and maximum coverage. Four rotating blades angle inward, and each head flexes and bends to glide effortlessly across your skin and around curves. It’s also cordless and rechargeable.

Do I need to replace the blades?

Aloe Coco - Body Lotion
How is the new formula different?
Aloe Coco Body Lotion got a major makeover with new packaging, added ingredients, and a thicker consistency. It still features many of the same natural ingredients, it’s still formulated to work both as a daily body lotion and an IPL aftercare cream, and the scent is the same one that you loved.
Does it work for sensitive skin?
Yes! The Aloe Coco Body Lotion is formulated for all skin types, including dry and sensitive skin.
How often can I use this lotion?
As often as you’d like! We recommend using the Aloe Coco Body Lotion after every shower and post IPL treatment, but feel free to use it whenever your skin could use a little extra moisture.
